The organization:

Founded in 2025, IVAN is an organization committed to protecting Illinois from vector-borne disease through public policy, innovation, and the advancement of best practices in public health. Member organizations include the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District, the Desplaines Valley Mosquito Abatement District, and the Northwest Mosquito Abatement District. I was thrilled by the opportunity to create their first logo.

The brief:

The logo must include a mosquito and the state of Illinois.

Inspiration:

I wanted the logo to look old, official, and to convey a sense of authority and prestige. I also wanted to bring an aggressive insectoid energy. The organization is fighting mosquitos. I created a sturdy, angular typeface that evokes college sports.
